Neptune Lines is a leading finished vehicle logistics provider, offering transportation and shipping solutions to manufacturers and shippers of cars and high & heavy cargoes. The company operates regular liner services in more than 40 ports in 27 countries across Europe, Mediterranean, Black Sea, North America and Far East. Its extensive range of 22 PCTC vessels enables optimal flexibility and can cater for a wide range of cargo, while achieving economies of scale across our network. Neptune’s growing network counts 3,000 port calls covering 1.3 million miles on an annual basis.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Energy Efficiency Engineer to join our Technical team. In this role, you will support the monitoring, analysis, and optimization of energy efficiency across our fleet within the Neptune Group. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze operational data, ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards, and contribute to strategic initiatives for sustainability and performance improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineering professional to develop their career in a dynamic and fast-paced maritime industry.

Reporting directly to the Senior Technical Manager, key accountabilities include:

  • Monitor and analyse energy consumption and fuel efficiency data across the fleet on a daily basis using the company’s ERP system.
  • Develop and implement energy-saving measures, including voyage optimization, hull cleaning, propeller polishing, and engine performance improvements.
  • Conduct energy audits and performance assessments of vessels, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with vessel crews, superintendents, and technical teams to optimize vessel operations.
  • Ensure compliance with international energy efficiency regulations, such as IMO’s Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).
  • Research and recommend new technologies, alternative fuels, and operational strategies to reduce emissions and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of energy management systems and digital tools for performance monitoring.
  • Provide training and guidance to shipboard and shore-based personnel on best practices for energy efficiency.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on energy performance trends, optimization measures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay up to date with industry advancements, regulations, and sustainability initiatives in the maritime sector.
  • Provide assistance to the Superintendents in overseeing projects.
  • Oversee vessels’ daily operations—including maintenance, repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard assessments, inspections, and docking—ensuring adherence to the company’s quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Excellent reporting and analytical skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Relevant experience, preferably in ship management companies specializing in liner and/or dry bulk operations, will be considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Greek and English.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, both internally and externally.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Dynamics Navision ERP system (asset).
  • Strong understanding of ship propulsion systems, hull hydrodynamics, and fuel consumption analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of energy efficiency regulations, including IMO MARPOL Annex VI, EEDI, EEXI, and CII.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and performance monitoring software.
  • Robust analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities, with a proven capacity to prioritize tasks under pressure while maintaining an organized approach and a can-do attitude.
